“If an Egg is broken by an outside force, life ends. If it is broken by an inside force, life begins.”
I was that Egg and Toastmasters that inside force which has given me “New Life”.
Below are few highlights of my journey with Toastmasters:-
1. Toastmasters gave me the courage to write.
Thinking is not enough. Execution is important. Toastmasters instilled in me the courage to write. Be it a thought, feedback, a poem or my feelings for someone, I express it in words. I prefer to share it with all and keep myself open to feedback.
2. If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you’ll find an excuse.
I learnt this lesson in Toastmasters and it has been a major turning point in my life both on personal and professional grounds. I was not getting enough time to continue my journey in Toastmasters and when I posed this question via the “Ask The Trio” column, their suggestions helped me a lot. Post that even if I have to skip some meetings of Toastmasters or family meetings, I don’t regret my decisions. I know that I have my priorities sorted.
- It’s okay to not know. It’s not okay to not try.
Before joining Toastmasters, I hesitated to initiate conversations, always doubted what to say and how to say. Toastmasters has helped me in overcoming these doubts. Nothing is good or bad, right or wrong, and people are not here to judge me but they are here to appreciate, guide and motivate me. This confidence of other mates in me and my trust in Toastmasters is helping me a lot in continuing my journey with it.
I know my Toastmasters journey is going quite slowly but as said by Confucius, “It doesn’t matter how slowly you go as long as you don’t stop”. And I will not stop.
